Higher Education Minister Nkandu Luo says Mukuba University will be training students in Mathematics and Science which are catalysts for development.

Professor Luo was speaking in Kitwe last evening when she met students from Lesotho studying medicine at the Ndola school of medicine led by their Deputy Minister of Education and Training Mothepu Mahapa.

And Mr. Mahapa said his government will send more students to the CBU School of mining as Lesotho explores investment opportunities in the sector.

Mr. Mahapa said Lesotho has confidence in Zambia’s education sector and that such visits will be common as his country plans to build its first medical university.

Meanwhile, government has completed construction of student hostels at Mukuba University in Kitwe on the Copperbelt for 6-hundred and 40 students.

This is under phase one of the project.

A Check by ZNBC News found that works on the second phase of the project have also advanced.

Mukuba University Acting Engineer Buildings – Christopher Mwila says the construction of the hostels will ease accommodation challenges facing the Institution.

Mr. Mwila added that since the college was upgraded into a University in 2017, the Infrastructure does not match its current status.

He has urged government to release funding for the completion of hostels under phase two.
