National Union for Public and Private Educators of Zambia -NUPPEZ-General Secretary Nelson Mwale has praised government for extending the scholarship programme from Copperbelt University and the University of Zambia to other public institutions.
Mr. Mwale says the move will encourage more teachers to further their studies because they might be privileged to be placed on the bursary schemes.
He says extension of the scholarship scheme to Chalimbana and Mukuba Universities will enable more teachers to access the bursary scheme.
Mr. Mwale said this in an interview with ZNBC News in Lusaka.
He noted that teachers have in the past been failing to further their studies because they cannot afford to pay for the tuition fees.
Mr. Mwale has however called on Government to consider extending the scholarships to private universities because most teachers are furthering their studies in such institutions.
